We look forward to welcoming you to Bridgetown, Barbados, for the AMT-CASMET 2027 Joint Meeting, August 9–12, 2027. With its stunning coastal views, rich culture, and warm island hospitality, Barbados provides an exceptional setting for learning, networking, and collaboration among laboratory and healthcare professionals from around the world.

Between sessions, attendees can explore the island’s many attractions, including historic Bridgetown, the crystal-clear waters of Carlisle Bay, and Barbados’ vibrant dining, shopping, and cultural experiences.

Continuing Education

Earn up to 12 hours of CE throughout the course of four days, in laboratory and medical assisting tracks.

All sessions provide 1.00 CE hour unless otherwise noted.

Credits earned at the AMT-CASMET Joint Meeting are accepted by the state of Florida (CE Broker #50-2206) and state of California (Provider #0061) for MLS, MLT, and RPT licensure renewal. Please note that only laboratory-related sessions are eligible for credit in Florida.

What are the dates for the 2027 AMT-CASMET Joint Meeting?

The AMT-CASMET Joint Meeting will be held Monday, August 9 to Thursday, August 12, 2027.

Where is the Joint Meeting taking place?

The AMT-CASMET Joint Meeting will be held at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle All Inclusive Resort.

Who can attend the Joint Meeting?

The Joint Meeting is open to everyone, including allied health industry professionals, employers, program directors, and students.

When will registration open?

Registration and access to the AMT resort reservation link will be available in late November or early December 2026.

Can I bring a guest or extend my stay?

Yes. Attendees are welcome to bring guests and may extend their stay subject to resort availability. Additional details will be provided when registration opens.

Can I attend virtually?

No. A virtual Joint Meeting is not planned.

Will there be an Exhibit Hall?

Traveling to Barbados

Do I need a passport to travel to Barbados?

Yes. All visitors traveling to Barbados must have a valid passport and a return or onward travel ticket. Be sure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay.

Do U.S. citizens need a visa to visit Barbados?

Most U.S. citizens traveling to Barbados for tourism or business purposes do not need a visa for short-term stays. However, travelers are responsible for verifying entry requirements that apply to their individual circumstances before departure.

What airport should I fly into?

Attendees should fly into Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI), Barbados’ primary international airport, located approximately 20 minutes from Bridgetown.

Is there a required travel form for entry into Barbados?

Yes. Travelers are required to complete Barbados’ online Immigration and Customs Form prior to arrival. The form is typically available within 72 hours of your scheduled arrival.

What currency is used in Barbados?

The official currency is the Barbadian Dollar (BBD). U.S. dollars are widely accepted throughout the island, and major credit cards are commonly accepted at restaurants and shops.

What language is spoken in Barbados?

English is the official language of Barbados, making it easy for most attendees to communicate during their visit.

What is the weather like in Barbados in August?

August is typically warm and tropical, with daytime temperatures generally ranging from the upper 70s to upper 80s °F (mid-20s to low-30s °C). Lightweight clothing, sunscreen, and a light rain jacket are recommended.

Will information about flights, the resort, and ground transportation be provided?

Yes. Registration details, resort reservation information, and transportation guidance will be shared when registration opens in late 2026.

Is Barbados safe for visitors?

Barbados is a popular international travel destination that welcomes visitors from around the world. As with any destination, attendees should exercise normal travel precautions and remain aware of their surroundings.

When can I reserve my room?

Room reservations can be made in late November-early December.

Can I call the resort to reserve my room or reserve online?

Room reservations should be made online.

How much is the room rate?

The AMT-CASMET group’s daily room rates are:

Room rates include taxes and fees, including the $10 government levy. Rates above are inclusive of daily breakfast, lunch, dinner and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Government tax (10%) and service charge (10%) are included in the nightly room rates.

As a benefit to our AMT and CASMET attendees, the group rate is available three days before and after the AMT-CASMET room block dates, beginning August 3, 2027 and through to August 16, 2027.

Does the AMT-CASMET group rate expire?

Yes. Reservations should be made by Friday, July 16 to avoid paying a higher room rate.

What time is check-in?

Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Your room may not be ready if you attempt to check-in earlier than 4:00 PM. If you arrive at the resort before 4:00 PM, check to see if your room is available and if it’s not, you can ask a concierge to hold your baggage until it is.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is at 12:00 PM. If you check-out after this time, you may incur additional fees.


AMT 2028 Annual Meeting and Additional Questions

When and where is next year’s AMT Annual Meeting?

The AMT 2028 AMT Annual Meeting will be held in Colorado. The specific city and dates are still being negotiated.

Who selects the Annual Meeting locations?

AMT Board of Directors select Annual Meeting sites, and the selection is governed by rotation among the five AMT Districts. Exceptions to the rotation may be made by the Board, if necessary.

Annual Meeting locations must be easily accessible via convenient, competitive air service and major highway systems; should be located near AMT partnership schools and/or employers; and must have a high concentration of active AMT members.

How do I propose to present an education session at the 2028 Annual Meeting?

The 2028 Call for Proposals will open in late Spring 2027.
